In a idea to provide fresh fruits and to attract the tourist, the government of Mumbai came up with the idea of setting up of sunday fruit market which would help the farmers from different parts of the state to sell their produce weekly.
This new initiative will benefit both the sellers and the consumers. The sellers would get a better price when compared to selling it elsewhere. The buyers who are eager to buy fresh fruits will find it as an oppurtunity to buy the fruits at a reasonable price.
The market will be setup at Hutatma Chowk, where they may attract the tourist who visit Gateway of India. The farmers would sell orange, grapes, figs, custard apples etc in the first week of fruit market.
Vidhan Bhavan parking lot is used for weekly market for vegetables.
